How would YOU illustrate a brand named “Monkey Shoulder”??

Distiller William Grant & Sons commissioned artist Jonathan Williams to help build an identity for this new triple malt whiskey.

well, sometimes kicking alcoholism is referred to as “getting the monkey off your back”. so… maybe not so good? depends on how “edgey” they might be willing to be.

Monkey Shoulder takes its name from a repetitive strain injury suffered by malt men in years gone by. The malting barley was turned by hand using a wooden shovel known as a ’sheil’. Monkey Shoulder is inspired by, and named in honour of, their passion. Although barley is still turned by hand at William Grants, working practices have changed so the condition no longer exists.
