A portrait of Iceland and its music, created by two fans and the internet: SONIC ICELAND is a fresh approach to travel writing and music journalism. Kai and Marcel are fans and bloggers, who used the power of the web to create this portrait of the Icelandic music scene. Research, financing, live documentation, publication – everything was done with a DIY-mindset. The website combines music, photography and written words into a very personal, yet informing travelogue about the Icelandic community and its music today.

What makes SONIC ICELAND even more special is the idea of publishing most of the content online (chapter after chapter), before releasing it as an illustrated book. That way, Kai and Marcel hope to gain attention of publishers while collecting new followers worldwide.

SONIC ICELAND is the story of a trip of two friends to an island up north. Armed with camera and notebook, they met many musicians and artists and fell in love with this island.
