The Noun Project: Best Things in Life Really are Free
Pictures alone can speak in every language. Apart from images, we often use symbols to represent common things. Take for example the restroom. Usually at airports you will get visitors from all over the world. When one must visit the restroom, they can clearly see the man and woman symbol. This allows us to understand what door to go through. This silly example shows how visual representation can break cultural and language barriers to communicate an idea.
The Noun Project collects, organizes and adds to the highly recognizable symbols that form the world’s visual language. All symbols presented on their website will always remain free. With simplicity at mind, any designer can visit and effortlessly find what they’re looking for. By providing iconic symbols that can be understood by all cultures is an incredible thing.
The Noun Project has been building a catalog of these types of symbols for quite a while now. Each download is usefully protected under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. So what does this mean? You are free to share, remix, and use it for commercial work. By utilizing the hundreds of gorgeous black and white symbols, you can save yourself some time during client work or other projects. Just a little FYI, all downloads are SVG file format.
