Desk Objects is a minimalist design created by English-based designer Max Phillips. The collection consists of a clock, light, and container. They all share the same uniform design aesthetic with switchable smart glass.
“On picking up the objects, the panels of switchable glass turn from opaque to transparent, revealing their individual functions.”
I didn’t really understand the functionality of the glass until I watched the video. When placed on a surface, the glass is frosted and hazy. However, right as the user lifts the object from the surface, the design from within the center of the object is revealed. I don’t know if this is some sort of dark magic wizardry or gnomes, but this is the first time I’ve seen this type of glass in action. Check out the video to understand what I’m talking about here.
