Robert Wilson’s diverse career (theater, visual arts,video/film, design, fashion, architecture) has placed him in a unique position to draw upon multiple disciplines to create an ensemble of video portraits that are reflections of the times in which we live.
The project began when Robert Wilson created a video portrait of French theatre actor and film director Patrice Chereau. This unique video was the image of Mr. Chereau, full body, dressed in his own suit, standing nearly motionless looking directly at the camera. The video, now part of Agnes B’s permanent collection was exhibited on a large flat screen monitor turned and mounted in a vertical format like a full-length mirror. The portrait was punctuated with Wilson’s iconic lighting and high production values.
