Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but over the years there have been some beauties that almost all beholders and critics have been able to agree on. What makes somebody beautiful? Is it a trend, does it change? Does the media influence the concept of “feminine beauty”? Is natural beauty ever better than constructed beauty? We see how powerful the media is in sculpting the perception of what the perfect body should look like. Less than hundred years ago, ads used to stress that woman should back on the pounds for bikini season. It used to mean that having a curvy figure symbolized good health, wealth, and greater sexual appeal. Now the fade seems to be that there is no such thing as being too thin.
Many of us carry around the notion that other people are more emotionally and intellectually stable than we are. Is this true? Although sometimes our appearance can dictate how others see us, it’s really the confidence and energy we put into our career and personal life that shows others who we truly are. Therefore, put your best face forward by “knowing” you look and feel the best you can. People will be able to feel your assuredness and will assume you are feeling your best, even if you’re not. Confidence is truly the definition of being beautiful! So go ahead, strut your stuff.
