The world is definitely not well in the Fulvio di Piazza oil painting featured here today; quite the contrary, it’s gone all post-apocalyptic. The surrealist Sicilian artist has recently had his Ashes to Ashes selection of oil paintings opened for exhibiting at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York. The exhibition, which opened on June 30th, features his trademark imagery of volcanic landscapes, islands afloat and masses of land that shift and shape in order to take up human or animal form. Di Piazza acknowledges the 1980s economy and philosophy bestseller Entropy, by Jeremy Rifkin, to be one major source of inspiration for his work.
