Housewares To Make You Smile By Beardbangs Ceramics

1
“We’re Alicia and Jo of Beardbangs, a wife and husband team that attempts to make the cutest housewares imaginable by transforming illustrations into ceramic objects.”

2
“We’re based in Montreal, Canada, where the two of us design the pieces together, and then I (Alicia) go to the studio to realise the pieces in 3D form. In the studio, I create our objects with stoneware clay that’s sourced in North America, and throw most pieces on the potter’s wheel. Everything is then painted by hand with engobes and underglazes, and coated in non-toxic transparent glaze.” – told artists to Bored Panda.

3
“The most common themes in our work are cats, bright colours, polka dots and smiley faces. Our work is meant to be accessible, to be picked up and used every day, being not only completely useful to daily life but also brightening it.”

4
“The aspects of this job we love most are seeing someone’s face burst into a smile when they see something we’ve made that catches their attention, and watching adults and children alike connect to the bright colours and silly faces of our characters. We are inspired and motivated by these human interactions, and are also influenced by Scandinavian pottery and design, comics, and a retro aesthetic.”
