How many times have you heard your parents say not to waste time on playing computer games? Exactly, so many times that you are smiling at the very thought, while reading this sentence. When our parents were kids, it was difficult to believe that games would become a huge branch of the entertainment industry and the driving force for new technologies, that artists will be working on their development, and playing them will become a job that not only brings in a sizable income, but also great popularity.

Why do we love computer games so much? Most importantly, because they can transport us into a totally different world. At the end of the day its quite frankly difficult to participate in military operations, search for hidden treasures, fight dragons, work as a detective, use magic or any type of weapon, starting with a sword and ending with the latest machine gun. Games allow us to experience an entire range of emotions, including sports emotions – as in the case of Counter Strike or Star Craft. What is more, despite popular opinion that gaming leads to social isolation, many games allow you to meet new people, who share the same interests as we do.

The fact of the matter is that we like games because, like fairy tales, they allow to go on an adventure and they also inspire us. Paintings, books and finally hit moves are created on the basis of computer games. It is no secret that Hollywood is currently purchasing the adaption rights even before a game becomes popular. This month, a movie based on the game Angry Birds made its debut, to be followed by World of Warcraft. In the way, the universe of games is expanding, and the stories engage the users even more.

And what if you could transport yourself into the world of games not only through the screen, but also by recreating its unique atmosphere in your own home? When we hear the two magic words “game room”, our imagination races and we immediately see a dark room with a comfy armchair, a huge monitor or screen, but in reality, well…we all know the drill.

Each player has their own space to play, but just the computer or console alone don’t create the atmosphere. In the end, gaming is hard work that takes up a lot of time, therefore, regardless of whether we have an entire room for this or simply just a corner, it is worth furnishing it in such a manner so that it can match the special effects of our favorite games.

Think big!

Do you have a War Craft figure on your desk, wear a Vault Boy T-shirt or drink coffee from a mug with a Pacman board on it? These are awesome gadgets, but just on a small scale. See how we designed a game room for GTA fabs – a wall mural has been placed on the main wall, a wall decal on the the left side and a smaller decal on the desk. We combined a wall mural with posters in this interior, inspired by Fallout, and for CS, we used only framed posters. Your ideas are limited only by your imagination.
