Last Delivery of Brand New VW Campervans Arrives in the UK After Brazil Factory Stops Production of Iconic Vehicles
The last ever delivery of brand new Volkswagen campervans has arrived in Britain, heralding the end of an era for the iconic ‘hippy bus’. Ninety-nine of the final batch of vans rolled off the production line and onto a container ship bound for Britain after manufacture ceased for good in Brazil in December. The consignment has just arrived at the only British importer, but already most of them have been snapped up by enthusiasts more than happy to pay the £35,000 starting price.
They are the last brand new campers in all of Europe.

Mercedes-Benz Announces New Sprinter Concept Campervan in Düsseldorf
Mercedes-Benz has moved into the Caravan Salon 2013 held in Düsseldorf, Germany with several new live-in showcases, starting with the Sprinter Caravan Concept. The tall-boy cargo van has been turned into a cut-away model with a kitchen with gloss-white fixtures, a living area, a bathroom with integrated wardrobe, front seats that can swivel all the way around, laminate flooring and walls and ceiling covered in Alcantara, plus LED lighting throughout. Mercedes says it ships 4,000 Sprinters to North America that get outfitted into high-luxe mobile dwellings, and the Caravan Concept is a symbol of how far that can go. Continue reading »

Spectacular Winning Images of the Mountain Photo of the Year 2022 Competition
A selection of the winning entries and contenders for Trail magazine’s annual photography competition, now in its ninth year.
The winning entry by Anglesey bookkeeper Kat Lawman is an image shot above the clouds at the top of Garnedd Ugain in Eryri (Snowdonia), that shows Jupiter, Saturn and Venus aligning under the watchful gaze of a wild camper. Kat, who also spends her time as a mountain leader and took up photography as a hobby three years ago, said: ‘It was such a truly earth-moving moment I was reduced to tears. The mountains here in Snowdonia are my life, and my escape … This night in December I managed to get the whole Snowdon massif all to myself, there wasn’t another single person around and this photo will always be the most special one to me’. Inspired By Nature, National Parks Photography Competition 2020
The UK National Parks and Campaign for National Parks are delighted to announce the winner, runner up and shortlisted entrants for our joint photography competition underscoring the importance of nature in our national parks.
The competition, around the theme of ‘inspired by nature’, drew about 1,700 entries via social media. Outstanding wildlife shots, landscapes and portraits from across the 15 national parks in the UK blew away the judges.
The dramatic winning shot from Peter Stevens depicts a rare osprey swooping in on its prey in the Cairngorms national park.

Spectacular Winning Photos From The Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2019
The winners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition have been announced during a ceremony at London’s Natural History Museum.
Yongqing Bao, who hails from the Chinese province of Qinghai, scooped on Tuesday the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019 award for The Moment, a striking image that frames the standoff between a Tibetan fox and a marmot, seemingly frozen in life-or-death deliberations.
Fourteen-year-old Cruz Erdmann was named Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019 with his serene portrait of an iridescent big fin reef squid captured on a night dive in the Lembeh Strait off North Sulawesi, in Indonesia.
The two images were selected from 19 category winners, depicting the incredible diversity of life on Earth – from displays of rarely seen animal behaviour to hidden underwater worlds.
Overall winner, and behaviour – mammals joint winner: The Moment by Yongqing Bao, China. It was early spring in the Qinghai–Tibet plateau, in China’s Qilian mountains. The marmot was hungry. It was still in its winter coat and not long out of its six-month winter hibernation spent underground with the rest of its colony. It had spotted the fox and sounded the alarm to warn its companions, but the fox had not reacted and was still in the same position, so the marmot had ventured out of its burrow.
