The monster of updates

The illustration was created to represent an editorial text, made for a major computer magazine here in Brazil.
The challenge was to talk about the problem that an application update can be for older mobile phones.
For this work, we used abstract forms, a monster, icons and game characters.

Rio 2016 by Tátil Design de Ideias
Imagine a brand born with a huge challenge: to represent the Passion and Transformation of a city and an entire country, and project these values to the rest of the world. A brand that must express unity. Inspire achievement and optimism. Avoid clichés and present Rio de Janeiro as the site of the largest sporting event in the world — to its very own Cariocas, and to athletes and people around the world.This important and much coveted project united 138 Brazilian design and branding companies around a shared dream: to design the brand that would become part of our city’s history and of the history of the Olympic Games. That was the beginning of the project that granted Tátil the pleasure and privilege of creating the brand for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

There are several tools that are used for retouching, manipulating and adjusting photos, such as the clone stamp, eraser, burn, dodge, smudge and blur tools. The clone stamp tool samples a selected portion of an image, and duplicates it over another area using a brush that can be adjusted in size, flow and opacity. The smudge tool, when dragged across part of an image, stretches and smudges pixels as if they are real paint, and the blur tool softens portions of an image by lowering the amount of detail within the adjusted area.

Photographer Elias Wessel offers a first look at the upcoming Vixen Magazine with his kaleidoscopic cover shoot that features an abundant amount of gems, sequins and greenery. Aided by stylist Storm Pedersen and art director Sophy Holland, Wessel creates a story of grandiose surrealism starring cover girl Lydia Hearst. Although Elias Wessel is a fashion photographer, his shots are more like works of art. Like any great photographer, he is masterful in his use of light, color, and movement.
