A series of humorous sculptures by Dimitris Polychroniadis that make a pop-surrealist comment on the ‘happy days’ that have gone for good, are presented as part of an exhibition titled ‘Repent’.

STOP THINKING ABOUT THE PAST-START CREATING THE FUTURE, 100cm X 50cm X 25cm (h). A team of workers is ‘cultivating’ a set of Classical columns, producing letters that project a hopeful message. These columns were found at typical souvenir shops in Athens. The ‘landscape’ is filled with carnations and broken plates. This is a stereotypical Greek night-life trade mark, recalling the “happy days” that now are nothing more than a distant memory. In complete contrast, carnations are the most commonly found flower in Greek Orthodox cemeteries. In a way this is a farewell to a joyful but broken past. Carnations also carry a strong political symbolism, beeing frequently used by workers’ syndicates and socialist parties (that have caused great disappointment) all over Europe.
