People’s Architecture Office: 21 Cake Headquarters

Chinese firm people’s architecture office has recently concocted the new ’21 cake headquarters’ for the popular gourmet pastry franchise in beijing. the two-layer light-grey office holds all the rich flavors of vibrant tones inside, topped with a large skylight. white surfaces on the interior act as backdrops for the laminated panes of primary colors, red, blue and yellow. depending on one’s position and sequence through the hallway, the overlapping planes visually overlap to create a different combinations of resultant hues spanning the range of the rainbow, illuminated by natural and artificial light. the furniture, also in vanilla tones, are fragments of geometries that can fit into one another as puzzle pieces, allowing for flexibility in reunion space and function.

Quinta da Baronesa by Studio Arthur Casas

With 7 billion people living on the planet, it isn’t exactly sustainable for every family to have more than one home, but the folks who own the Quinta da Baronesa get points for building theirs out of natural and recycled materials! Asked to make it barely visible from the street, Studio Arthur Casas gave the striking home a landscaped roof and tall block entrance, and then chiseled the remaining naturally-lit rooms into rolling green hills overlooking a golf camp.

Tweed Ride MOSCOW

Hundreds of cyclists dressed in traditional British tweed suits descended on a Moscow park to take part in the first Tweed Run in the Russian capital. The aura of the 1930s and1940s was recreated with a twist of elegance. The Sokolniki Park became a Mecca of style and sport, with crowds of cyclists dressed to the nines. Although any bicycle was acceptable on the Tweed Run, some participants spotted classic vintage bicycles, such as the1953 American wheels. In solidarity with the retro Russian cyclists, a number of passers-by preferred to take pictures of the event on cameras fitted with film. The event was inspired by the UK’s global bicycle ride launched in London in 2009. The cycling parade drew both, adults and children, but women naturally did their best to bring back the spirit of the bygone era. Russian ladies with an eye for detail and a touch of class could be seen wearing vintage hats and retro skirts bought for the occasion at second-hand shops.
