Thread is a family of portable furniture pieces that include a small stool, bistro table and a high stool. The top surfaces of each piece are connected through a visible wedge-joint system that rest on a colored steel base. Coordination designed Thread to be flexible and adaptable to the user’s needs.

Villa SSK by Takeshi Hirobe Architects
Villa SSK is a minimal design created by Chiba, Japan, designed by Takeshi Hirobe Architects. The location for this project was adjacent to the calm and tranquil waters of Tokyo Bay. When the architects first visited the site, they were immediately overwhelmed by the presence of the ocean. Soon, however, they became attuned to the subtle cues coming from the surroundings, such as the movements of the sun, the flow of the wind, the scent of the tide, the stirrings of the plants, and the presence of the rocky mountain.

The building’s exterior is constructed mainly of corrugated metal-cladding with cutouts that expose the interior with a large abundance of natural light. While inside, the perception of depth is skewed by the horizontally striped insets that pattern the ceiling.

Saturn by Ziiiro

Saturn is one of Ziiiro’s newest digital pieces that tell time without the traditional long and short hands that move about the face. The designers incorporated LCD rings that indicate the time. The outer LCD ring has 12 blocks on it for the hours, and the inner LCD ring has 60 blocks that denote the minutes.

4.5×20 House is a minimal home located in Hanoi, Vietnam, designed by AHL Architects Associates. The home was designed for a young family with a child and grandmother. The existing space was bland and uninspiring, much like the cookie-cutter residences littered throughout Vietnam. The clients wanted something different from the humdrum of the surrounding homes.

Cangiante by I + N
Cangiante is a minimal design created by Switzerland-based design firm I + N. Respectively graduating the school of Art and Design Lausanne in 2010 and 2011, Ishmael and Nathan Studer based their workshop I + N in Neuchâtel in 2011. Their work is defined as much by the development of autonomous objects as it is by creating furniture that defines a space within an architecture.
