This That Other by Stefan Diez

Leibal thisthatother stefandiez 051 This That Other by Stefan Diez

This That Other improves upon an earlier collection by Diez for e15, Houdini. Both chairs are defined by their distinct and unusual geometries. The differences between the collections are evident in their magic names. Houdini, like its namesake Harry Houdini, is something of a one-off, a piece defined by the craftsman who masterfully produced it. This That Other’s connection to the card trick is equally apparent; the trick is well known, and repeatable. Like the trick, Diez’s new chair is infinitely replicable, having been optimized for industrial production. Diez evolved the existing style and hand crafting process of the Houdini chair, invested in tooling, and as a result these chairs are of a better quality and a much better price.
