Those Lights Have Inspired Me by Gannon Burgett

Gannon Burgett documents impressions of New York City through this photo series entitled ‘Those Lights Have Inspired Me.’ A first trip to the big apple for the photographer, he opts to document the city’s people as they go about their days, as opposed to its many landmarks and tourist attractions. The result manages to nicely reflect the distinct character of the city.

A Dirty Synergy by Alex Poll

Alex Poll explores how possession and product are discarded without thought through this series of photos depicting once useful objects abandoned in nature. A cycle perpetuated by the fact that we can constantly replace possessions, Poll suggests a synergy is formed when “nature begins to reclaim the things that were once part of it.”

Oranges Can Hurt by Sebastiano Rossi

Sebastiano Rossi photographs the 2011 Ivrea Carnival, a celebration which involves the locally famous Battle of the Oranges. The historic Italian carnival commemorates the rebellion of the people against a tyrant who ruled the town in the middle ages. Those who throw oranges from carts symbolise the tyrants’ guards, and those on foot the rebels.
As Rossi’s photos depict, it’s quite the messy affair, and while some emerge weary and red-eyed, others maintain smiles.

Although perhaps not the most playable incarnations of the guitar, these pieces certainly do rock more than most. In addition to being awesome sculptures, these guitars will be raising money for several different charities of the artists choosing. The guitars will be making their debut at the SVA Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition in May, 2011. The exhibition is titled IDEOPOLIS and is going to be nothing short of a great exhibition.

Adrian Parra photographs the Salton Sea, a rift lake located directly on the San Andreas Fault in California’s Border Region. Fluctuations in water level are caused by variations in agricultural runoff and other forces, as evidenced by the photos depicting a desolate area, which emphasizes the vastness of the Sea and past ruins.
Box Office: Director’s Cut

As of late, the Academy Awards have become just as much about the red carpet as they are about old Oscar.
With this in mind EveryGuyed decided to pay homage to 10 directors with a street installation; one where each piece showcases a director – from Hitchcock to Burton, Ritchie to Lee – known for personal and directorial styles ranging from the iconic to the idiosyncratic.
Over the years these artists have created many of the movies we love, and did so while looking great not just on awards night, but every time they stepped out from behind the camera.
