Designer Tommy Hills envisions a chessboard of the retro-gaming variety where the pawns are cone-headed Space Invaders and the court is made up of shields and invaders. The King is a gun turret (sensible) whilst the Queen is the UFO that passes overhead during the heat of battle. The Space Invaders chessmen are made of laser-cut fluorescent red and yellow acrylic carved into shape with an Epilog laser. via Hungeree

San Fermin festival in Pamplona
Thousands of revelers gathered together to celebrate the start of the San Fermin Festival known as the ‘Chupinazo’ at the Town Hall of Pamplona in northern Spain on July 6, 2012. The traditional ‘Chupinazo’ rocket launch kicked off the celebrations at midday as rabble rousers cheered and hollered in Ayuntamiento square. Kinetic Rain at Changi International Airport
Visitors view a kinetic art installation dubbed ‘Kinetic Rain’ located in Terminal 1 at Changi International Airport in Singapore, which is purported to be the world’s largest kinetic artwork.
