Gesamtkunstwerk

Gesamtkunstwerk (German for the universal artwork) was a term first popularized by the German composer Richard Wagner, and is also the title of Artemio’s current exhibit over at Yautepec Gallery in Mexico City. In it, Artemio presented 18 50×50cm digital prints on canvas and one relief, which show perfect snowflake-like compositions made of guns, grenades, rifles and machetes.

Document Light
Document Light is a lamp designed by Gaby Crohn that comes equipped with everything, except a lampshade. The idea behind is that everyone can create their own personalized shade by adding their receipts, memos, photos, and other paper files to the two concentric metal hoops on top of it.

Alice

Watching this music video for the song Alice, by Pogo, is the perfect way to kick-start the week. The song itself is an electronic piece composed using sounds recorded from the Disney film Alice In Wonderland. It’s brilliant!

Jeff Koons’ Popeye Series

Starting today, the Serpentine Gallery in London will open its doors to the public to present Jeff Koons’ Popeye Series. This will be Koons’ first major exhibition in a public gallery in England, which is why they are expected to draw in BIG crowds. The show includes a number of monumental oil paintings featuring the iconic figures of Popeye and Olive Oyl, as well as a number of his sculptures inspired in inflatable beach and bath toys.

If you happen to be lucky enough to be in the big L these days, be sure to head over to the gallery this Thursday (July 2nd) as Koons himself will be conducting a rare talk about his work!
If not, there’s lots of high res pics over at colectiva!
