Ventilate.ca launched its seventh poster series, this time themed Abstract Surface; visual interpretations of abstract textures and/or patterns while considering rhythm and contrast. Each posters is a free ready-to-print, 24in x 36in download via YouSendIt. New MadInSpain 2011 Titles from Madrid based Toch Studio with audio from Toronto based Cypheraudio. All aspects come together, including design, CG, animation and audio design, making for impressive titles. MadinSpain just held its sixth event, exploring and celebrating design and creativity, organized by Domestika.org.

www.ro.me launched yesterday, May 12, 2011, the latest interactive music video from director Chris Milk and Google’s Aaron Koblin. “3 Dreams of Black” is an experimental music video for Danger Mouse and composer Daniele Luppi’s Spaghetti Western-inspired concept album ROME, featuring the track “Black”. The album features Jack White and Norah Jones and will be released on EMI. This experience was built specifically for Google Chrome Canary using HTML5 based WebGL. Mirada was tapped as the conceptual design and animation partner, creating digital assets for the interactive music video produced by Google Creative Lab & @radical.media with 2D animation by Anthony Francisco Schepperd, interactive production and conceptual design by North Kingdom and vfx by Oddball Animation.

Ventilate Japan
Ventilate Japan is a charity poster series donating 100% of all profits to the Red Cross, benefiting those who suffer from the Great East Japan Earthquake. Curated by Michael Brown, Ventilate Japan is an initiative of ventilate.ca and each of the contributing artists as well as our sponsors. Our goal is to not only raise funds but to also raise awareness of the scale of this disaster, the physical and psychological toll taken by its victims as well as the on-going threat posed by spent nuclear fuel.
We are compelled to take action and help in a way we know best, through graphic design. The result is Ventilate Japan. Whether through love, frustration, compassion, concern or motivation, these posters were designed from the heart. We hope that through poster sales we will be able to help even further by way of donating all profits to the Red Cross.

We’ve updated with our fifth poster series ~ Dystopia; an often futuristic society that has degraded into a repressive and controlled state, often under the guise of being utopian. We asked Derek Stenning, Alberto Russo, Jimmy Turrell, Onur Senturk and Diego Lopez to explore their own interpretation of the word Dystopia.
