Inside Rachel Bilson’s Home for Lonny

Douglas Friedman photographed Rachel Bilson for the latest issue of Lonny, a bimonthly online magazine that focuses on home decor and lifestyle.

For the shoot, Friedman observed the actress in her living room, a sort of oasis in the L.A. abode she shares with boyfriend Hayden Christensen. “It was great to capture a subject with a youthful point of view – she was a breath of fresh air with her independent sense of style,” he remarked. “I particularly like the cover image … there is something wonderfully retro, late-seventies-chic about it … I felt transported.”

Makeup Artist Amy Chance Is ‘The One’ for Sky Ferreira

Amy Chance’s talent was tested on the set of Sky Ferreira’s “You’re Not the One” video shoot. “The clothes that Sky expected to wear didn’t arrive to the location because the stylist had a family emergency, and we went into problem-solving mode,” the makeup artist explained. “Sky turned to me and said, ‘It’s up to you … it’s going to have to be about the makeup.’ Of course, I felt bad that Sky was disappointed; however, at the same time, I was excited for the rare opportunity to create a makeup look that was in no way dependent on the styling.”

Drawing inspiration from the song – “it’s a breakup anthem; she’s fed up, she’s done, and she’s moving on” – and working with faux wet hair, Chance used Chanel Automatic Liquid Liner in Noir and Lancôme Hypnôse mascara in Noir for Ferreira’s cat eyes.

Dazed Visionary: James Franco

Dazed perfectly kicks off this week with their latest “Dazed Visionary” series showcasing the work of James Franco. The series shows three exclusive films on the dazed channel – including Animals, a surreal, paint-smeared experimental piece that involves two masked, quasi-naked performers pretending to be beasts of burden. It’s a good thing someone finally raises awareness for the creative talents of James Franco, who often get’s reduced to his comedy roles in movies like “Pineapple Express” or “This is the End”. Franco’s also commissioned original video work from three of his favourite artists and collaborators.
