Matte painting is a technique often used to create landscapes, sets and scenes for movies, TV and print when building a physical set or traveling to a particular location to film is either cost prohibitive or impossible. w132 is a minimalist design created by Japan-based design firm Nendo for Wastberg. W132 is a lighting fixture made by assembling its parts: the shade, post and stand. The height and form of the light can be easily changed by adding and rearranging the components. By attaching the wire unit to the shade, it becomes a pendant lamp. Adding a longer pole to the desk lamp makes it a floor stand. The shade is also available in three different shapes: a cone, sphere and a cylinder.

Between ’64 and ’74 he was partner of Archizoom Associati, the first vanguard group internationally known. But it was also in the end of the 60s that it started working on some fields of industrial and research design, architecture, urban planning, education and cultural promotion.

Maico Akiba, a Japaneese illustrator/sculptor, decided to answer that question with his new project titled ”100 Years Later.” Like the name suggests, Maico fabricated rust paint and moss onto every day objects to give them an archaeological look. This corrosion project definitely infuses you with an apocalyptic feeling.
