Pete Fecteau, artist behind the impressive 4,242 Rubik’s Cubes image of Dr. Martin Luther King entitled “Dream Big,” announced he will create 8,000+ cube mosaic. The new 8,484-cube mosaic will be titled “Gray Matters” and will portray Albert Einstein, using Fecteau’s analogous color palette. The new mosaic will measure 37’ by 7’8”.
Fecteau’s first Rubik’s Cube mosaic “Dream Big” – unveiled in 2010 – caused buzz in the art world and quickly garnered interned fame with more than 30 millions views. “Gray Matters” is set to unveil at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Mich. in late September. Following the ArtPrize the mosaic will tour the United States. “Gray Matters” is exactly twice as large as “Dream Big” and uses only five of the six colors found on Rubik’s Cube: Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, and White.
“It’s really exciting to be able to do another big mosaic. ‘Dream Big’ was such a surreal and humbling experience I couldn’t resist trying another one. This time I’ve been working with You Can Do The Rubik’s Cube and Seven Towns [which owns the Rubik’s Cube trademark] and it’s been a lot easier to plan. It gives me the chance to focus on the art and have more fun creating ‘Gray Matters.’” said Fecteau.
Currently, Fecteau is still in the development process and is looking for funding to complete the mosaic. He has created a Kickstarter campaign – a crowd-funding website – to help fundraise the additional $30,000 that he needs to complete the mosaic. Donors to “Gray Matters” will receive rewards such as postcard sets, limited editions screen-printed posters or special drawing journals.
What could be the easiest way to upholster a piece of furniture? We took a piece of foam and wrapped it with fabric in the same way you make a parcel. The fabric looks like paper and the product becomes a gift. Sometimes the shape of a present becomes more important than the actual content. In this case the inside could be whatever you wish it to be. The parcels are soft and work as modules to build different comfortable seating possibilities. When the trolley is loaded with parcels it becomes an easy chair.

I am sure your mind is perfectly relaxed after the weekend and we may dive into another fresh set of creative inspirations our team put together. The ones following us know what our daily inspirations consist of … it’s not about the photos, illustrations and traditional art only … there is something for everyone. So let’s take a look what we got. In the photo section do not miss the swimming ape in Are you looking at me by Oat Vaiyaboon. There are several cool illustrations … but today I’ll pick just one, and it’s gonna be very cartoonish. Love it. Anyway, the artwork is called Digital Painting & Illustration, and Daniel Djanie is the talented author behind it. I believe we were already featuring artworks by Jenny Liz Rome … some of you may remember. If you do not remember it doesn’t matter … just check her latest artwork here at Cruzine called Bear #2. How sexy is that?! At the very end of my intro I am gonna recommend a nice poster freebie at the bottom called Black & Orange PSD Flyer Template by Flyerheroes. Enjoy!
