Daily Inspirations no. 360
Again bunch of fresh design inspirations is waiting for you at Cruzine. That’s nothing new … you’re used to that :). Anyway … today I’ll skip our photos and move directly into the illustrations section. This section deserves a lot more space today than usually as it’s stuffed with quality … you’ll see yourself. Right the first artwork is kind of cool … what do you think? At least I like what I see myself … the Chinese author ZZY did a good job with this portrait illustration. Right beneath this artwork you’ll find another masterpiece. The style is different, but that’s what we like about art, the creativity has no boundaries .). Let’s not forget the artwork details … it’s called Gnomes and Jason Chan is the author. The third one I would like to present is The living dream by Randyotter. Again, something totally different than the previous two, but still amazing. Guys, you better check the remaining three in this section .. it’s definitely worth it. Let’s move on. There are some cool artworks available in today’s Art / Digital art section as well. My fav is the painting called The Woman by Alice X. Zhang and the other one is called Memories by Dilka Bear. For typography fans … check Thinking of You by Dzeri29. Love it … kind of appropriate for Valentine’s day too. I almost forgot … there is a nice freebie available. Get the Geschenk Box Icon by templay.de. For those not speaking German, it’s a set of gift box icons. Enjoy!

Falkland Islands: A Look at the Disputed Territory
A decades-old dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom has put the remote Falkland Islands, which the Argentines call the Malvinas, back in the news just in time for the 30th anniversary of the Falkland Islands War. Those who follow Argentine politics say it has to do with pre-election opinion poll numbers for President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Perhaps the biggest reason it’s on both nation’s minds is a recent Edison Investment Research study suggesting that Britain could receive billions of dollars from oil recovered around the English-speaking UK Overseas Territory.
Kirchner lodged an official complaint with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon last week over the UK’s decision to send “nuclear weapons” to the Falkland Islands in defiance of a treaty that seeks to establish a nuclear-free zone in the South Atlantic. Britain argues that its sovereignty over the islands predates the existence of the state of Argentina and it will endure so long as the islanders wish to remain British.
The Falkland Islands remain an agricultural society that is heavily dependent on tourism. Grumblings of further dispute between the two nations are troublesome for the Islands’ welcoming image. The Falkland Islands are situated in the South Atlantic some 400 miles east of the South American mainland and 850 miles north of the Antarctic Circle. East and West Falkland have a landmass comparable to that of Connecticut and are home to fewer than 3,000 islanders.
With nearly 500,000 sheep in the Falklands, there are roughly 163 sheep per person. There are also more than 500,000 breeding pairs of penguins camped out along the rugged coast.

A sign is seen on a side road warning locals to steer clear from land mines which were laid in the Falkland Islands. Most of the 150 minefields were laid around the capital Stanley when Argentine forces landed there in April 1982 to claim the islands taken by the British in 1833. The British armed forces defeated the Argentines 10 weeks later in a brutal war that killed 650 Argentines and 250 British. (REUTERS / Enrique Marcarian)

Daily Inspirations no. 359
Guys I hope you had a great weekend … I did :). We got to get back to work and it’s always easier to start with something we like … such as checking what’s inspiring out there. From today’s photography section my picks are the female model with shades shadow all over her. The other one I like, and I have to admit I love this sort of photography overall … is the Dive to Philippines by Miguel Castanys. It’s amazing to see the World as we know it … along with the underwater World which is not that common, at least for us, living 1000s of miles away from the sea. Let’s check the art / digital art section now. There are several candidates, but my favs are the Knitted City – Ministry of Sound by Naju and Wasp by Alice X. Zhang. Actually to be righteous, Lioness Soul by Hans Walør shoulda be there too. Do not miss the freebies section today … there is a nice progress bar from pixelsnippets. Very cool … so if you’ll find a need for it, do not hesitate. Enjoy!

North Northwest by Julian Calverley
A collection of personal landscapes made in the North Northwest of Scotland. An ongoing personal project started in 2005. Julian’s fascination and connection with the landscape, British locations in particular, dates back to when he was a young boy, with numerous family trips spent wild camping in and around the Scottish Highlands and Western Isles. These everlasting memories help to provide a deep affinity with the wild, grand open spaces of the British Isles. Preferring the qualities of autumn and winter light, Julian often works before dawn and after dusk. In all weathers, he captures the atmosphere of the scenes before him, often returning to the same remote locations time and time again. Landscapes can look so different, almost unrecognisable, from one moment to the next that Julian considers it vital to experience them in their varying weather conditions and sea states.
