Swimming with the Big River Man

Meet Martin Strel, ” The last superhero in the world”

He likes to eat, he likes to drink whiskey and he likes to swim rivers.

In 2007, the 52 year old Slovenian swam the Amazon River and this is the movie of his journey. It wasn’t just a leisurely little swim to take in the sites and sounds of a distant land. This was 70 days and 3200 miles of madness in the name of raising awareness for the Rainforests and clean waterways.

The film won best Cinematography at Sundance in 2009 and has been airing on Discovery channels Planet Green Network recently.
