Back in October, talented French street artist “JR” was awarded the 2011 TED Prize.
For those unfamiliar with it, the TED Prize offers one winner $100,000 for a charity of their choice and, more importantly, “One Wish to Change the World.”
The “One Wish” is designed to leverage the TED community’s resources and talent to create projects with far-reaching impact. Previous winners have included Jamie Oliver, Dave Eggers, Bill Clinton, and Bono, among others.
Wrinkles of Shanghai

Fresh off his TED Prize win, JR traveled to Shanghai to start a new project entitled “The Wrinkles of the City.” In this powerful series, the French street artist/photographer captures images of the elderly, who represent the memory of the city.

Street Artist JR in Kenya

Following his project from 2009 street artist JR has recently visited Kenya to cover another 1800 meter square of rooftop next to the previous ones. The texture of the banners protect the house from leaking and are kept by the community over the years. The action follow the project 28 Millimetres: Women are Heroes made in Kibera in February 2009. The Hills Have Eyes

French photographer and guerrilla artist JR works by photographing people covertly on the street, and then posting large paper reproductions of the photographs around the town where the people live. Needless to say, this is slightly more dangerous in the mean streets of the infamous favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
