1-layer twist ring by Nervous System

The 1-layer twist ring by Nervous System available via Shapeways is inspired by the complex forms of radiolarians, where intricate pattern is integral to structure, these shapes derive from a simulation of spring meshes. They created interactive software to morph, twist, and subdivide each design, transforming a simple mesh to a complex patterned structure.

Nervous System creates experimental jewelry, combining nontraditional materials like silicone rubber and stainless steel with rapid prototyping methods.
Sprung Accessories
Product Design student, Hannah Jassim, has rethought the design of the bag, by harnessing the natural properties of plywood in a unique way. She has designed her own range of bags that provide an eye-catching way to carry and protect possessions when on the move. Aimed at young, trend conscious individuals, the range of accessories provides an industrial yet elegant aesthetic, making them ideal for the unisex market.

The project was initially inspired by observing body language within a shopping environment, but soon developed into the psychology behind the shoppers’ behaviour. Through research, Hannah discovered that the chemical dopamine was released within the brain when doing something pleasurable such as shopping. The molecular symbol for dopamine then formed the basis for both the brand and logo, with each bag depicting its unique structural image.

The range of accessories is made from 3 core materials- wood, metal and leather. For the outer layer, plywood is used due to its natural ‘spring’ quality, allowing the bags to open without a hinge. The thin aluminium layer provides strength and an aesthetically pleasing quality, whilst the leather forms the section to hold the contents. These layers are hand stitched together to create the final form for each of the bags.

Alex Goose: Rising Producer. Not the guy who could have been.

Many fans of “The Blueprint 3” had no idea who Alex Goose was—most of them still don’t. And maybe that’s a good thing. Without asking for a cent, “The Blueprint 3 Outtakes” sparked chatter all over the internet, leaking excitement and attracting criticism. The tracks, which were submitted to Jay-z in the spring for consideration to appear on “The Blueprint 3,” found their way to glowing laptop screens, headphones on the subway, and mated like rabbits on Twitter. A hotel vending machine at the Mondrian South Beach hotel in Miami sells guests everything from a toothbrush to a designer dress. Larger items like condos and Bentleys can also be purchased on the vending machine. Never mind the Jean Paul Gaultier dress, the 1965 Corvette convertible or the 24-karat gold handcuffs. Visitors who really enjoy themselves can spring for a penthouse condo on the property. The biggest items, like cars and condos, are dispensed in two stages. Buyers pay a nonrefundable $1,500 deposit that holds the item. Then, hotel staff bring the vehicles around for a test drive or take the buyers to see the property. Guests who change their minds forfeit the deposit.
