STO Label Adds Tech Shtick to Fairy Tale Collages
Visually arresting and packing a funny punch, the work of Florence-based Simone Massoni, an Italian artist and founder of the SketchThisOut label, is, by his own account “always topical, always fresh.” If, for instance, you take a closer look at the artwork he’s spliced together in the “12 Famous Fairy Tales in Pieces” calendar project, it won’t look at all like an accurate retelling of the night-time stories you’d fall asleep to as a child. And that’s a good thing – in this day and age, when Disney fare consists of Wizards of Waverly Place and your average 7-year old can out-text his parents, a tech sting in the tail is just what the old fairy tale needs to stay in the game.

New Typography Designs
At the very dawn of book printing or book writing to be more exact, those people, who created/wrote/copied books treated their job very seriously. Though it took pretty much time to create a book, every item was created like a true fine art masterpiece – not only it contained the information and knowledge, it was also marked with fine ornaments, text decorations, and font designs of the highest art grade. Later, when printing press was invented and book printing turned into mass production, most of the decorative features of typography have been sacrificed for the sake of quantity of end products, simplicity of production, and economic interests.

Randoseru, Japanese Schoolchildren Backpack Unboxing
A randoseru is a firm-sided backpack made of stitched firm leather or leather-like synthetic material, most commonly used in Japan by elementary schoolchildren. It measures roughly 30 cm high by 23 cm wide by 18 cm deep, and features a softer grade of leather or material on those surfaces which touch the body. When empty, the average randoseru weighs approximately 1.2 kilograms (about 2½ pounds avoirdupois). The term randoseru is a borrowed word from the Dutch “ransel” meaning “backpack”, a clue to its origins nearly 200 years ago as used in the Netherlands.
