Create A Dynamic Shattering Text Effect

When it comes to text effects, the sky is the limit. You can light it on fire, drench it in water, freeze it, explode it, make it glow with neon colors, or engrave it in beautiful metallic fashion. Unfortunately, many of the text effect tutorials on the internet yield rather low-quality results.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a high quality, dynamic shattering effect for text. You’ll first be guided through the 3D creation of the text, and then the process of shattering it, then you’ll learn how to use the power of Photoshop to create a brilliant and unique result.

As always, questions, comments and suggestions are welcome, just let us know!

Studio3 Typography IMG1 Studio3 ‘Hyper activi typography’ Book

Studio3, and in-school design agency working out of Norway, has created an amazing book titled ‘Hyperactivitypography’. The text, which approaches typography with a discerning consideration to those who are most familiar with the field, combines vintage graphics and design features taken from cherished children’s texts. The resulting book is as aesthetically interesting a vehicle as the fascinating subject matter it covers.

Last 3 years, we’re, here in Communication Bureau Proekt (Moscow), creating annual brochures for British Higher School of Arts and Design. This year is not an exclusion. With the new design and imposition, the latest brochure was divided into two parts: the graphic part, presenting school image, and the info part, with text, schemes and tables, giving the info about school’s curriculum and courses.
The communication of the new brochure makes accent on the seniors achievements. The tree on the image brochure cover symbolizes the passion for knowledge and professional growing. The roots system on the cover of the info part by-turn symbolizes the basis, without which there can be no growing. The tree and the roots perfectly fits together when laying the brochures one above the other.

CasaCor SP – cozinha.clube.br

“It is through the kitchen door that close friends and visitors enter Brazilian homes. And that’s where they hang out for hours, chatting, sipping sugar cane brandy, which is never wanting, accompanying bread, cookies of all sorts and cheese, all homemade, always beautifully set out on the table, covered by a dishcloth. The house is where the fire is kept burning to prepare dinner.”
(Marcelo Simon Manzatti)
 CasaCor SP cozinha.clube.br
Food has always been and will continue to be an excuse for getting together.
And there is no better temple than the kitchen for this celebration. The kitchen is the meeting point of simplicity, the place of communion and generosity. The Brazilian kitchen is necessarily located next to the living room, the heart of the house. To create Cozinha Clube (Kitchen Club), with Estar (Living), space for the Batuque (Drumbeat) and Prosa (Chat), is nothing further than a return to our traditions.
This is our way of eating, happy and festive.
 CasaCor SP cozinha.clube.br
With cozinha.clube.br, we propose a space conveying a strong and true story built on our observations of simple things, everyday elements, Brazilian cultural roots, the fluke occurrence, an improvisation. So we will work with trash collectors who will discover an informal curatorship of objects transformed into furniture for the space. From an ordinary selection of obsolete objects, we will make random collages, fun and nonsensical, generating a fresh, more rational, emotional and esthetic dimension. A translation to the design of a collage that is the image of Brazilian people.
 CasaCor SP cozinha.clube.br
Our idea is that for the final product to be glamorous and sophisticated, even to the point of mystifying our visitor. At first sight, he may not recognize the origin of the materials, inducing a quiet, non-aggressive pondering. We want to show the real possibility of new luxury and comfort. Meaningful consuming based on experience. cozinha.clube.br appears as a fruit of the new “trysumer” trend, the consumer wave that is more prone to try out new ideas than simply to collect objects.
 CasaCor SP cozinha.clube.br
Proposed are plastic, paper, vinyl floor tiles, rubber and rejected, disposed of and forgotten materials.
To document all this construction process of the kitchen club and experiments that are to happen in the space during the Casa Cor 2007 show, we proposed the creation of a blog with daily updates by a hired blog journalist, to pass on to the public in text and photos what is going on at cozinha.clube.br.

Drawing for Design

Booklet that contains projects that were focused on communication through drawings.

Reading the book from one cover to cover focus on the images while the Text is upside-down and unreadable, and doing the reverse allows the text to be read and the imagery to be secondary. This practices the act of clearly communicating through imagery rather than text.

Paul Grabowski ‘Exkrementals’

PaulGrabowski Excrementalism IMG1 Paul Grabowski ‘Exkrementals’

Quite possibly the ultimate in bathroom reading, German artist Paul Grabowski’s ‘Exkremental’ art book is a weighty tome featuring images and text all related to scatology. The beautifully designed book features a myriad of art ranging from stamped steel stencils to intricate typefaces unlike anything one’s ever seen. combining various mediums while addressing this taboo. It’s easy to say that although Grabowski’s ‘Exkrementals’ is a unique production on a unique subject, as a creative endeavour, it’s far from shit.
