Thus designers prefer to leverage unconventional color combos such as black and yellow, black and blue or black and any neon hue that look simply enthralling, topnotch and quite advantageously.
Putting ‘reflection’ time and spirituality back into the smartphone graphical, eye-candy media mix…
In today’s hyper-active society full of too much media consumption, too much work, and too many extracurricular activities, there is less time being spent in contemplation, reflection, and prayer. Because of this trend, many faith-community leaders (pastors, ministers, priests, rabbis – all alike) are asking their congregation to put down their devices, pick up their prayerbook, and spend more quiet time reading scripture and praying. While this plea to address our daily spiritual needs is important – feeding our soul with spirituality invigorates our mind and body. Is this a realistic plea by faith-community leaders? I think not – particularly for our younger generations. Many folks, especially teens and 20-somethings, have formed an addictive habit of filling any downtime they have with activities on their smartphone – texting, Facebook’ing, Instagram’ing, Vine’ing, SnapChat’ing, Tweeting, etc.
So, rather rather than fight this trend of filling our downtime with smartphone social networking activities; thereby, missing out on what little time folks have to contemplate, reflect, be thankful, and pray, one group is planning to put these spiritual activities back ‘into the media mix’. By creating visually captivating personal prayer places for folks to escape to on Facebook, mobile and tablets, GivingVu (“Giving View”), a Colorado-based nonprofit, plans to help folks feed their spirit – balancing their mind-body-soul temple. This service / app, entitled, FaithVu – Your Personal Prayer Place, is GivingVu’s first nonprofit project.
The FaithVu app project has partnered with Prefundia, a platform for building support for crowd-funding projects before they launch, to preview its ‘found-raising’ campaign coming soon to Kickstarter.
The FaithVu app will help folks get closer to God by witnessing and sharing God’s graces through inspiring prayer experiences. FaithVu is powered by GivingVu.org, Inc., a Colorado nonprofit corporation focused on spiritual development and charity work. GivingVu’s mission is to enable services and digital apps that increase the GIVING acts of FAITH, HELP, and CHARITY amongst communities. FaithVu’s ultimate prayer experience will deliver a visually captivating personal prayer place for people to access as an app on smartphones, tablets, and Fb.
