Developed in partnership by Forestry England and the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), Earth Photo is an international competition and exhibition which rewards photographs and videos that tell stories about our planet, its inhabitants, its beauty, and its fragility.

Project – Silver – Portrait of a Village
‘Documenting the Ukrainian village from which my family were taken by Nazis in 1942 – I’m the first of my family to ever go back. The village has witnessed great horrors: epidemics, famines, invasions and murders. The focus was my relief to find such a welcoming and colourful place. A wonderful Ukrainian community that didn’t echo my Black Sea German ancestor’s dark history. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has turned all that on its head. Radisics says: ‘Over eight months, I spent almost every night sitting at the window of my cottage in the middle of the forest. The young vixen appears in the village after dusk, circles an hour and a half, and appears in a courtyard several times. Floods in South Sudan have triggered food insecurity across the country. About 1.3 million children suffer from acute malnutrition, exacerbated by the spread of malaria and drinking water made unsafe by the floods, which have affected a million people since July 2020.
