Attractive Female Portraits By Natalia Ivanova That Show How Diverse And Beautiful Humans Are

Natalia Ivanova is a Paris-based Russian photographer and documentary filmmaker who started the Les origines de la beauté (The Ethnic Origins of Beauty) project back in 2012 (previously). In it, she photographs women from various ethnic groups around the globe, highlighting their uniqueness and beauty, and proving what a beautifully diverse world we live in.

Natalia writes that the aim of the project is to ” show the real scale of ethnocultural diversity in a full, systematic and creative way”, as well as to illustrate all distinctive ethnic groups out there. So far, the photographer and her team have took over 250 portraits of women from more than 110 different ethnic groups, and the project looks to be far from over.

Artist Turned 3000 Kilograms Of Clothing Destined For Landfill Into An Art Installation

“Blood Mountain” is a sculptural installation featuring a 3-meter high mound of red clothing and apparel. Upon closer inspection t-shirts with feminist slogans like “Girl Power” and “The Future Is Female” can be seen poking through the debris. Fashion items, once hung in pristine department stores, now presented as a giant pile of landfill. Women began finding work when World War I began in 1914; they had to take the jobs of men who had gone to war. A wide range of jobs needed filling. Automotive machines were in large production around this time to supply the United States and other countries with vehicles for war. This was the start of women playing important roles in the automotive industry.


Not all women on the front lines were part of the military though; many were volunteers offering their help to medical services such as the Red Cross. This woman served as an ambulance driver with the Voluntary Aid Detachment, an offshoot of the Red Cross. Unlike most ambulance drivers, though, those who operated the vehicles on the front lines had to know how to repair and service their cars, as you see this woman doing in this image by Ernest Brooks shot in 1916. In honor of black history month, a mother and a daughter teamed up to recreate photos of iconic black women.

Back in February 2017, Cristi Jones decided to commemorate the month by dressing her 5-year-old daughter and shared the results on Twitter. While there were so many women worth to mention, Cristi decided to take one photo per day and narrowed down the list to 29 memorable figures.
