Finnish photographer Vesa Lehtimaki began photographing his child’s toys back in 2009 as a way to preserve their memory before they either broke, were given away, or were lost. At around the same time, he took some of his son’s Lego snowtroopers outside and photographed them in the snow and that is when he found his calling to make incredibly detailed action scenes of Lego Star Wars figures. Artist duo Muntean / Rosenblum use traditional Christian iconography and Baroque modes of seeing to create mystique around contemporary life. Typically set in landscapes distinct to the 21st century, such as nuclear plants and graffiti-ed railroad tracks, the paintings appear as documentary film stills or snapshots of our current reality. However, by contorting perspectives in a dramatic Caravaggio-esque manner and devising moments where pain or discomfort appear as main subjects, Muntean / Rosenblum cultivate the same aura of the unknown that is so captivating in paintings centuries old.

Man Hilariously Recreates Romance Movie Scenes with Boss’s Dog

For the last month, Chris Naka (aka mmsspp) has been recreating scenes from classic romance movies with his boss’s dog, Wrigley. It all started one day when his co-workers at Blue Man Group in Chicago came up with the idea for Naka to pose with the adorable pooch in a famous scene from Titanic. With Wrigley as Kate Winslet to his Leonardo DiCaprio, Naka embarked on a fun, ongoing project.

Taking only 10-15 minutes during lunch breaks to capture each scene, Naka and his canine love interest have already managed to recreate some of the most memorable movie scenes in film history. From the upside down kiss in Spiderman to the seductive leg shot from The Graduate, the duo have emulated their respective big screen characters in a hilarious, new light. Continue reading »

Ways Of Looking, a city-wide photography festival features some of Red Saunders’ finest works.The artist specialises in huge ‘tableaux vivants’ (living pictures) where he gets dozens of actors to recreate moments from British history including the English Civil War, the Chartist movement and the Peasants’ Revolt.

Historical ‘evidence’: Leveller Women in the English Revolution, 1647 is one of Red Saunders’ ‘tableaux vivants’ which recreates famous – and not so famous – scenes from the past. Continue reading »
