The First Dinosaur Tail Discovered Is Preserved In Amber, 99 Million Years Old And Covered In Feathers
A dinosaur tail with beautifully preserved feathers still attached to the bone has been found preserved in amber, and it’s one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen. It’s not the first time feathers have been found trapped in amber, but it is the first time that researchers have been able to definitively link them to a dinosaur. Kurdish Dandies Start Iraq’s First Fashion Club
It’s not just about bringing fashion to Iraq. For these Kurdish peacocks it’s also about promoting a positive image of their homeland to the world. In early February 2016, a group of young men gathered in the ancient citadel at the heart of Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan Region. It was deep into the second winter of the Kurds’ war against the Islamic State and the region was mired in economic crisis. As a result, restoration work on the ancient UNESCO-listed site — said to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world — had ground to a halt, leaving the citadel with the air of an abandoned film set. Tippi, aged 6 busy with two meerkats in Namibia, 1996. Incredible pictures of the real life Mowgli, a girl who spent the first ten years of her life growing up in the African bush, have been released for the first time. The magical images chronicle the life of Tippi Benjamine Okanti Degré, who was brought up with wild animals, just like Rudyard Kipling’s hero did in The Jungle Book. The images – in the relaunched book – “Tippi: My Book of Africa” – show the young girl making friends with an elephant, who she calls her brother, and a leopard, her best friend. Living with her French parents, wildlife photographers Sylvie Robert and Alain Degré, the three of them travelled extensively through Africa on a unique and incredible trip. Continue reading »

The tiny female cub was photographed when she was just four months old, weighing little more than a newborn baby at 9.9lbs. Shots show her striking various comical poses, from confidently balancing on her back legs to seemingly smiling as she sits on a weighing scale. Amanda Brooke Charsha-Lindsey with the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue shared an inspiring photo (above) of a recently rescued great pyrenees named Lazarus to her Facebook page on Sunday.
