Epic Entries To Washington Posts 2017 Travel Photo Contest

For the 18th year, Washington Posts Travel asks readers for their best photos. This sampling shows that the contest has some stiff competition.


“The combination of earth, sky and light in this location is simply magical”, wrote Mark Franko about his submission taken in Arizona’s Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. “It is no wonder why the Native Americans hold this place sacred”. Incredible Photo Series Shows Huge Dogs Playing With Their Tiny Toddler Pals

A photographer is launching a new book featuring 100 touching images showing the loving bond between young children and their enormous dogs. The series of pictures shows breeds such as Great Danes and Newfoundlands towering over toddlers – highlighting their mutual love for each other. Children no taller than 2ft are seen high-fiving their family pets, running alongside them and even riding their beloved dogs as if they were a horse. The extraordinary collection will feature in a book called ‘Little Kids and Their Big Dogs’ – which is all down to the work of photographer Andy Seliverstoff. Continue reading »

Photographer Nei Valente Creates An Urban Photo Series Of The NYC Newsstands

Nei Valente is a 27 year old Brazilian designer and street photographer. He is currently living in NYC and working at Brand Union. His latest series, “NYC newsstand”, tries to portray the current reality of the classic New York newsstands and the characters that live in and through them to create the debate about their future in the digital era. The series dialogues with the 1994 Moyra Davey series “Newsstands” that shows a completely different reality and aesthetic. Nei finds that the interesting thing about having a lot of portraits in the same theme is that you can compare and analyze how are they adapting to this new world and observe that while some keep the magazines and newspapers in front, others are giving priority to candies, snacks and souvenirs.
