Unbelievable Macro Shots Taken Inside Instruments By The Romanian Artist Adrian Borda

Adrian Borda is an artist and photographer from Reghin, Romania. Inspired by an old print campaign for the Berlin Philharmonic, Borda managed to take a fascinating series of photos from the insides of old instruments like a cello and contrabass. To achieve these shots, Borda fit a Sony NEX-6 camera equipped with a Samyang 8mm fisheye lens inside the instrument and then used a smart remote so he could preview the workflow on his phone. London-based artist Rowan Mersh assembles dense rolling surfaces comprised of thousands of seashells, tiny solid objects that now appear like fluid waves. Mimicking the natural geometric patterns found in life, the artist uses responsibly sourced shells like windowpane oyster discs or duplicata shells that are tightly arranged in a labor-intensive process, one piece at a time. This artist started making Pro Silicone masks late in his career, and, clearly, found his calling. They’re all super realistic, except with a tinge of crazy. He works out of the back of a friend’s business who generously donated the space to help him develop his craft. After playing with a silicone formula for months to make the masks lightweight, durable, textured for paint and hair, he hit a sweet-spot and has been making them since. Each mask is unique, hand painted, and each hair inserted with needle. They’re creepy, they’re imaginitive, holloween themed, and just flat out amazing. Continue reading »

Hu Shaoming is a young Chinese sculptor and graduate of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. With a deft mastery of metal he creates intricate sculptures that are surreal and dreamlike, but also somewhat cautionary. As part of his city series Shaoming created a mechanical seahorse that appears submerged in water.
