Nina Braun is immersed in an analogue world, where the obsession with material and her devotion to each individual object emerges from her very personal imagery.

Her approach to materials like wool and fabric are the base for her sometimes child-like and naive objects that result from an intensive working process. Considering that we are living in a digital era where economical aspects of the working process prevail and thoughts and images can be infinitely reproduced, Nina Braun’s approach to work is quite revolutionary.

The Last Wild Wolves

A selection of the over 100 photographs Ian has taken during his seventeen years living in and exploring the Great Bear Rainforest, home to the last of the wild wolves.

For seventeen years, Ian McAllister has lived on the rugged north coast of British Columbia, one of the last places on the planet where wolves live relatively undisturbed by humans. This book describes his experiences over that period following two packs of wolves, one in the extreme outer coastal islands and another farther inland in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. 60BAGs: Sustainable Alternative for Retailers

60BAGs are the perfect natural answer to the environment’s needs. They are biodegradable carrier bags made out of flax-viscose non-woven fabric. Its material was scientifically developed and manufactured in Poland.

Katarzyna Okinczyc (the industrial designer on the project) and Remigiusz Truchanowicz (the photographer) managed to convince the Institute of Natural Fibers in Poznan to give them exclusive rights to commercialize and distribute their invention.

Ice: A Victorian Romance

Inuit waiting at a seal-hole on the ice, from William Edward Parry, Second Voyage, 1824.

Visiting a remarkable iceberg, from John Ross, A Voyage of Discovery, 1819.

The Lion and Reliance in icy seas, from John Franklin, Narrative of a Second Expedition, 1828.

Adventures. Brave. Ice. I’m in love of those historic images. Strongly recommended for all historic illustration fans (like me).
Ice: A Victorian Romance exhibition attempts to merge these three icy frontiers into one thematic story. By 1860, the idea that the earth had gone through an Ice Age was finally being accepted, and people attempted to view that Ice Age through the lenses of the Arctic, Antarctica, and the Alps. Knowledge of the Arctic and Antarctic, gained at such cost, provided a framework for reconstructing the ice of the prehistoric past.

All the publications on display are from the collections of the Linda Hall Library.
