Sandra Chevrier is a Canadian artist born in 1983. As far as this artist can remember, art has always been present in her life. She reminds with special detail a specific work she saw by the Canadian artist Heidi Taillefer titled “Detritus of devotion”. Fans and critics have long discussed and debated the unrealistic bodies of comic book superheroes, from gravity-defying breasts and tiny waists to bulging biceps and washboard abs. However, now Bulimia.com has done what it refers to as “reverse Photoshopping of comic covers,” and given the superheroes bodies that reflect average American body types.

Fantastic Portraits of Superheroes Set Against Tranquil Environments
Superman has the Fortress of Solitude, Batman has the Batcave. Obviously, even superheroes need some space and alone time. When the writers drew up these characters, they also had to humanize them by giving them some kind of escape where they could be by themselves. French photographer Benoit Lapray‘s imagined series, ‘The Quest for the Absolute, Portraits of Superheroes’ builds on that premise. Superheroes. This series of five maquette-like sculptures attemts to act as a humorous link between the early 20th century Masters of art and design that shaped modernity, with contemporay icons of pop culture.
