French artist Olivier Grossetête used three enormous helium balloons to float a rope bridge over a lake in Tatton Park, a historic estate in north-west England. Though visitors weren’t allowed to use the bridge, it would theoretically be strong enough to hold the weight of a person, according to Grossetête.“My artistic work tries to make alive the poetry and dreams within our everyday life,” added Grossetête. Orthopedic Components

Orthopedic components hang on a wall in a workshop at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), orthopedic centre on November 19, 2012 in Kabul, Afghanistan. The ICRC rehabilitation centre works to educate and rehabilitate land-mine victims, and those with limb related deformities, back into society and employment offering micro-credit financing, home schooling and vocational training to patients. The clinic itself is unique in that all of the workers are handicapped. Steve Jobs’ Yacht ‘Venus’ Launched in Netherlands

Steve Jobs’s yacht was has been unveiled in a Dutch shipyard, where the unusual boat designed by Jobs and famed minimalist designer Philippe Starck was christened “Venus”, after the Roman goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and victory.

According to Dutch website OneMoreThing, the finished ship was launched at shipbuilder Koninklijke De Vries in Aalsmeer in the Netherlands. Jobs’s widow Laurene and three of their children, Reed, Aaron and Eve, were at the ceremony. Continue reading »

Ostankino Tower Celebrating Victory Day

Ostankino Tower is a television and radio tower in Moscow, Russia. Standing 540.1 metres (1,772 ft) tall, Ostankino was designed by Nikolai Nikitin. It is currently the tallest freestanding structure in Europe and sixth tallest in the world. The tower was the first free-standing structure to exceed 500 m (1,600 ft) in height. Ostankino was built to mark the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. It is named after the Ostankino district of Moscow in which it is located. Continue reading »
