Model, skydiver and wing-suit jumper Roberta Mancino jumped from a boat into the ocean surrounding Isla Mujeres near the northern Peninsula of Mexico. “Lens Between Us” Project
Globe-trotting photographer couple Peter Sedlacik and Zuzu Galova have found a fun way to document their travels around the world. Wherever they are, they face each other, frame up a great composition, and take a picture of each other… taking a picture of each other. Thus was born the photo series/project “Lens Between Us”, which is quickly scooping up followers on Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram alike. The resulting diptychs are creative, well-composed, and whimsical in the best way. A tribute to how their focus is always on each other, the images are part travel photography, part portraiture, and challenging to boot since each shot requires that they figure out not one, but two compositions. A serene turquoise glow glimmers from underneath these powerful icebergs. Stood in the middle of Antarctica, the giant icebergs appear to be from an unearthly world. Peter van Agtmael (b. 1981) graduated from Yale University in 2003 with a degree in History. Following graduation, he spent a year in China on the Charles P. Howland fellowship photographing the effects of the Three Gorges Dam. He became a freelance photographer at the end of 2004. Since the beginning of 2006, he has documented the consequences of America’s Wars, at home and abroad. A monograph of the work, “2nd Tour Hope I Don’t Die” was published in 2009. In 2008, he helped organize the exhibition and book Battlespace, a retrospective of unseen work from 22 photographers covering Iraq and Afghanistan. He is represented by Magnum Photos
Peter Van Agtmael began his first tour documenting the army at 24, the same age as many of the soldiers. A friend of this young Marine at FOB Delhi asked Van Agtmael if he wanted to see a picture that he’d drawn. It was of an angry pig with a giant pen*s dressed as a Marine, holding a machine gun. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, most people can only dream about escaping to the quiet isolation of the rural countryside. French photographer Antoine Bruy, however, turned that dream into a reality when he hitchhiked across Europe from 2010 to 2013, wandering through remote mountain regions without any fixed destination or route in mind. The Joys of the Water Slide
Krista Long began snapping pics of people sliding down a water slide after many visits to the local water park with her tween daughters. “I set up my lawn chair to watch the entertainment as bodies shot one by one out the blue tube, suspended ever so briefly before crashing into the pool below,” Long told ABC News. “I started bringing my camera set to the highest shutter speed, hoping to freeze that moment in time just an instant before the plunge.” The result is an action-packed series of photos on Long’s Flickr page that show emotions ranging, she says, “from pure joy to fear, in anticipation of the inevitable splash-down!”

The Colourful Hills in East Central Oregon
Layers of breathtaking colour streak the rolling hills of this vast desert, making the landscape appear as though it has been tie-dyed. The natural phenomenon, nicknamed the “Painted Desert”, was formed when the area was once a river floodplain.
Each colour corresponds to a different underground geological feature – rocks which have seemingly dyed the layers of earth above. Formed from volcanic activity, the hills at the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in East Central Oregon, USA, are almost bursting with colour. You wouldn’t normally associate power stations with beautiful scenic shots but one photographer has traveled nearly 2000 to track down the ugliest energy plants and show them in a whole new light. Covering an area of 190 hectares, the park features blooming flowers around the year. The park has become known for its baby blue-eyes flowers, with the blooming of 4.5 million of the translucent-petaled blue flowers in the spring drawing tourists. In addition to the annual “Nemophila Harmony”, the park features a million daffodils, 170 varieties of tulips, and many other flowers. The park includes cycling trails and a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel.

No More Nightmares: Kids Show Monsters who’s Boss!
Every child fears the monsters lurking under his or her bed as soon as the lights turn off. But now Paris-based photographer, Laure Fauvel, is helping kids battle those scary, hairy and creepy ghouls one nightmare at a time. “I wanted to show the nightmares in a different way, with children fighting fears and not being victims”, Fauvel, 22, said. (Don’t worry. No monsters were hurt during the making of these photos, Fauvel assured).
