Icelandic photographer Gunnar Freyr woke up to the sound of a tree breaking in his garden and saw the heavy snowfall coming down. He grabbed his camera and ventured into the city centre to capture these fantastic photos of a magical night. Snow depth was measured at 51 cm at 9 am this morning in the capital which breaks the record of 48 cm in February in 1952. Only once has this been exceeded, in January of 1937 when snow was 55 cm.

You’ve never seen Mike Ehrmantraut from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul like this before. For this eerily-realistic cake, Mike shows his sweeter side. Created by Natalie of Sideserf Cake Studio in Austin, Texas, this incredible cake perfectly captures Mike Ehrmantraut’s persona. This cake sculpture is so realistic, it doesn’t even look edible! But that’s just because Natalie happens to be unbelievably talented at creating realistic cakes that don’t look like cakes. It’s kind of her thing now and the internet is beginning to take notice. Beautiful seascapes capture the “raw power” of waves rising and crashing in the Indian Ocean. The stunning photos were taken off the coast of Durban in South Africa, and show formations from above and below the surface. Surfer and photographer Marck Botha took the images between April and July, and has always had a passion for the ocean. A fisherman caught a record-breaking 805lb Mako shark – and then barbecued and ate it with his friends. Joey Polk, 29, and his two cousins Earnie Polk, 43, and Kenny Peterson, 21, battled the 11ft predator for more than an hour before finally hauling it onto the beach. They normally tag and release their catches for conservation but were unable to resuscitate this one and instead made it the main course at a jumbo-sized family barbecue. The huge shark, caught at a secret location on the Florida Panhandle on April 15, beat a previous weight record set by Earnie for a mako weighing 730lbs, set in February 2009.

Student Ariana Gonzales, who is from Albuquerque, the town the hit series is set in, has visited many of the places that feature in the programme and taken a real-time snap shot of some of the iconic scenes. So as viewers mourn the end of the hit show, Ariana’s project provides a glimpse into the world of the successful drama. The project features familiar sights from the AMC drama, including the pizza on the roof scene and the lawyer’s office.
Ariana was able to recreate the scenes by ‘playing with depth’ with a camera, which meant painstakingly trying to find the right position to shoot in. She has been hooked on the show since the beginning and even thanked producers for choosing her home town as its set. Continue reading »
