It’s one thing to build a hotel on the foot of a glacier just above the Arctic circle, it’s another thing entirely to also make it energy positive. But that’s precisely what award-winning Norwegian architects Snøhetta have been tasked with creating. Continue reading »
This Set Of Pictures Were Provided By The Dupont Circle Hotel In Washington DC And Dramatically Brought To Life After Colourisation
This set of pictures were provided by the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington DC and dramatically brought to life after colourisation by British colourisation expert Tom Marshall.
After a thrilling chase through the busiest streets of Washington, a couple of bootleggers and their car come to grief at the hands of the Capitol police, 21st January 1922:
“I was asked to colourise these images of the Prohibition, perfectly capturing both the fashion and atmosphere of this fascinating chapter in American history”, said Tom. “In January 1919 the American Congress passed the Eighth Amendment, outlawing alcohol and ushering in the infamous Prohibition era. Throughout the 1920s the state tried but failed to enforce the ban of alcohol throughout the States. Those who opposed the law found ever-creative ways to enjoy a drink”, Tom explained. A captivating series of photos appear to show a family of baby brown bears dancing to Ring a Ring o’ Roses as their mother relaxes behind a tree nearby. At just a few months old, two young males and one female gather in a circle, clutch each others’ hands and looks as if they are dancing to the popular nursery rhyme. It’s almost like a scene from a school play
PE teacher Valtteri Mulkahainen was lucky enough to witness the magical moment and captured it on his camera which he uses as a hobby. He was travelling through eastern Finland when they came across the bears near Suomussalmi. Valtteri, from Sotkamo in east Finland, said: ‘When I saw them standing on their hind legs I thought I was imagining it. It seemed like I was in the middle of the magic forest in a fairy tale. If the bears began to sing I probably wouldn’t have been surprised because it was so unusual to watch.’ Continue reading »
