Dark Fantasy, Cyberpunk Light, and Epic Visual Drama In the Work of Philip Sue

Philip Sue is an illustrator and digital artist from New Zealand whose work is closely tied to fantasy, science fiction, and polished digital painting. He is also deeply engaged in teaching, with tutorials, process videos, and custom brushes forming a visible part of his practice alongside finished artwork.

His images are built around spectacle and atmosphere: towering scenes, dark fantasy figures, cyberpunk cityscapes, and high-energy fan art all play a major role in what he makes. What gives the work its broad appeal is the balance between technical control and accessibility — the paintings feel ambitious and cinematic, but also connected to a process he actively shares with other artists.
