Based in Saint Petersburg, Russian hairdresser Aliya Askarova, who is also the creative director of Image Studio Denis Osipov, has created these amazing works of hair art. She first shaves the back of the head according to the shape requested by the customer before dyeing it in all sorts of colors to make the image pop. A Modern Interior Was Built Inside This Historic Building In Italy

In the southern part of Italy in the historical town of Matera, are world famous cave-dwellings. Carved thousands of years ago, these caves that were once homes and churches have recently been turned into a contemporary tourist hotel. Designed by Manca Studio, 300 square meters of cave-dwellings were developed and restored to create a common area, a spa, and 4 suites for the La Dimora di Metello Hotel. Each room of the hotel is in the grotto style and features walls made from tuff (a rock made from volcanic ash) and plaster to compliment the existing texture of the cave walls. Continue reading »

This weekend house is located on heavily ti-treed sand hills adjacent the ocean beach in Rye, Australia. Its spiral configuration is a spatial device which responds to the difficult topography, it is also a figure rich in coastal allusions. The 17-foot-tall stone slab is inscribed with a message that, by virtue of the medium, could outlast the civilization around it. For his new sculpture, MEMORIAL, British artist and author David Shrigley has carefully chosen words like “sausages,” “Nutella,” and “tampons”—like a deadpan “Ozymandias,” it’s possible the only record left of a post-apocalyptic New York City will be a grocery list. Adobe Has Just Launched A Clothing Line With The Worst Stock Photos
Adobe team has just launched a line of clothing featuring some of the worst stock images ever, and the weird part is that they actually look pretty cool (on slender and attractive models at least). The range is called Adobe Stock Apparel, and Adobe came up with the creative idea to promote their new royalty-free image service called Adobe Stock. They’re not for sale though, which is a shame, because if there’s one thing missing from my wardrobe it’s a t-shirt with a picture of a laughing woman eating a healthy vegetable salad on it. Royal Society Photo Contest Winners Capture Breathtaking Details Of Our Rapidly Changing World
From a swirling dance of mating mayflies to a lone clownfish swimming amongst a field of bone-white sea anemones, the top photos chosen for the Royal Society Publishing’s second annual nature photography contest showcase small but significant moments in a rapidly-changing world. While these images might not seem earth-shattering, their subtle subjects inspire new ways of looking at the natural world.
Special commendation. “Butterflies and caiman” by Mark Cowan.
Colourful butterflies gather on the head of this caiman to collect salt – an important mineral for their survival. This photo was taken while on a scientific expedition to the Amazon to study reptile and amphibian diversity. The expedition was led by researchers from the Herpetology Division at the University of Michigan and included participants from Peru and Australia. A number of minerals are a scarce resource throughout Amazonia and so this behaviour allows these invertebrates access to salt, much like the clay licks that are used by a variety of vertebrates. This particular phenomenon where butterflies and bees congregate on the heads and around the eyes of caimans and turtles has been documented before but what is unique here is the simultaneous number of butterfly species and the way in which each species is associated with its own kind. It was 2014 when New Yorker Donato Di Camillo could finally roam the city he knew and loved, camera in tow, documenting the unfamiliar faces and eccentric individuals that passed him by. This pastime, however, had long been kept from him. Di Camillo first became interested in photography eight years prior, while serving time in prison for a federal crime. Locked behind bars, Di Camillo obsessively pored over the glossy pages of National Geographic, Time, and Smithsonian magazines, enchanted by the images of the outside world beyond his reach.
