The World Press Photo Foundation is proud to present the category winners of the 2021 World Press Photo Contests, selected by an independent jury. The annual World Press Photo Contest rewards the best visual journalism of the past year in eight categories: Contemporary Issues, Environment, General News, Long-Term Projects, Nature, Portraits, Sports and Spot News.

World Press Photo 2021: Outstanding Images Nominees For Photo Of The Year
As 2020 joined the pantheon of years pivotal in history, the nominees for the 64th annual World Press Photo Contest are a reflection of those remarkably difficult 12 months.
In rewarding professional photo journalists for the best images of visual journalism, whether entered as singles or stories, judges asses their accurate, fair, and visually compelling insights about our world.
“In an unprecedented year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and social justice protests around the globe, the nominees share a diversity of interpretations and perspectives to these and other urgent issues such as the climate crisis, transgender people’s rights, and territorial conflicts,” explained the organization.

Godzilla And Fellow Kaiju Monsters Apologise At Japanese Press Conference For Acts Of Destruction
The world of gachapon vending machine capsule toys just got even weirder with a new lineup of figurines from top Japanese toy producer Bandai. Called the “Godzilla Toho Monsters Press Conference”, the series depicts Godzilla, along with three other kaiju monsters from the acclaimed movie production and distribution company Toho, all appearing at fictional press conferences, complete with microphone stand and name plaque. Spectacular Winning Photos Of The 2018 Stenin Press Photo Contest
Contestants from South Africa and Spain have been named the winners of the 2018 Andrei Stenin Press Photo contest in the category Top News.
The winners of the Andrei Stenin photo contest were announced earlier today. Photographers from Belarus, Iraq, Spain, Israel and South Africa took home first place in the categories Top News, My Planet, Sports and Portrait.
The international photo contest was first organized in December 2014 in memory of Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin. He was killed while on assignment in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine on August 6, 2014 after his car was shot at and burned on a highway. The photo contest aims to promote young photographers and attract public attention to photojournalism.
