Young Garbage Pickers in India
In this November 18, 2014 photo, Murshida, 12, sits on the lap of her mother Marjina as the train leaves for their village in West Bengal, at a railway station in New Delhi, India. Six months ago, Marjina stepped off a train in New Delhi with her two children, hoping to find a better life after her husband abandoned them without so much as a goodbye. The family spent their days at a landfill picking through other people’s garbage to find salvageable bits to resell or recycle. After six months of poverty, illness and shame, they returned to that train station in New Delhi, headed back to an uncertain future to their hometown in West Bengal. (Photo by Altaf Qadri/AP Photo)

An enormous crocodile mauls a young hippo calf carcass near Lower Sabie on May 11, 2014, in Kruger National Park, South Africa. An enormous crocodile tosses around a young hippo calf caught in its lethal jaws. The giant reared out of the water revealing a young hippo calf between its teeth. The huge beast then span, jumped and splashed in the water with the small carcass. Miami Zoo Welcomes Two Young Male Cheetahs from South Africa
Zoo Miami’s, Ron Magill and Willy Cotto unload two nine-month old Cheetahs as they arrive at a quarantine facility at Zoo Miami on November 29, 2012 in Miami, Florida. The two sub-adult brothers who arrived today were captive-born on March 6th of this year at the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre just outside of Pretoria South Africa. The Cheetahs after being monitored and examined for a minimum of 30 days to insure that they are healthy and stable, will be featured in Zoo Miami’s Wildlife Show at the newly constructed amphitheater and will continue the work of Zoo Miami’s Cheetah Ambassador Program by making appearances off zoo grounds at a variety of venues including schools and civic organizations.
