Maybe it’s just a browser issue, but i can’t seem to find any links to where the photos came from in this article.

In case you forgot to post the links, or there is a problem with them loading, the photos are from here- Okinawa Soba’s Flickr Photostream

Anyone at Flickr should add him as a contact- even if you have no interest in Japanese culture, his comments are hilarious enough to still make him worth the add.

I bet the fisherman isn’t actually struggling for life but is thinking of how much sushi he can make out of the aggressive mollusk.

It’ a cephalopod, not a mollusk. The last picture is of Chinese kids, if anything, is the politically incorrect bit here, they’re not Japanese….

In the last picture, it’s hard to imagine that he doesn’t have a boner, with a girl on your crotch like that. Oh Wait! He does have one…

Great selection of old Japanese photos, thanks for the outstanding post. Don’t get me wrong but I can’t agree with the title! We can’t judge the culture we know so little about. We may think that “SEPPUKU” photo is controversial and politically incorrect, but we are wrong! Seppuku is a really honorable ritual which was allowed only to respected and honorable men and of course it’s not about just killing yourself.
