Boombot REX – Ultraportable Speaker

The Boombot REX is the next evolution of smart speakers in the ultraportable Boombot collection. A salute to the king of dinosaurs, the Boombot REX mimics the thump of the T-Rex’s footsteps as it ruled the land. With revolutionary acoustic and industrial design, a noise-canceling microphone and a built-in clip, the Boombot allows you to stay connected to your friends and your music, while keeping your phone safely in your pocket.

The Boombot REX connects to iPods, smartphones, tablets, and laptops using wireless Bluetooth technology. Stream music, change tracks, and answer, end, or deny phone calls on the fly. The Boombot is built to withstand the demands of an active lifestyle so you can bring music to where you enjoy it most.

The product originated from carving a clay block to find the ideal shape for the ultraportable speaker. The Boombot REX was crafted to fit in the palm of your hand, be clipped onto your backpack, belt, or handlebars and be toted on adventures with ease. The housing is a ruggedized high-impact ABS shell with the circuit board secured to the internal frame in four locations. The unit is certified IP53 water-resistant; don’t hesitate to bring it cycling in rain or on your next snow outing. The Boombot REX is powered by a rechargeable medical-grade lithium-ion battery that will keep the tunes booming for 6 hours. The industrial design of the Boombot REX encourages you to pick it up, clip it on, and add a soundtrack to your life in motion.

The Boombot REX incorporates a noise cancelling microphone that allows you to answer, deny, or end a phone call with the press of a button. Leave your phone protected in your pocket and change tracks and volume using our custom designed firmware. Do it all with just three buttons.

The sound on the Boombot REX is unmatched by any speaker of its size. With dual 36-millimeter full-range drivers and a MASSIVE Bass Woofer, the Boombot REX is the smallest 2.1 sound-system in the world.

The Boombot REX is the first ultraportable speaker with Siri integration. Queue a request to Siri with the push of a button and Siri will answer back to you through the speaker.

Boombotix was founded by Lief Storer and Chris McKleroy – two college friends who met on the ski slopes of Lake Tahoe, with a passion for music, gadgets, and the active outdoor lifestyle. Lief, an optical engineer with a background in fiber optic lighting systems, created the first Boombot ultraportable speaker in 2009. Developed as an alternative to headphones, the Boombot was conceived by combining a Japanese vinyl toy, off-the-shelf speaker internals, and a walkie-talkie clip. Originally developed for a bike ride to work, both founders quickly realized that this product integrated perfectly into their life off the saddle as well. Chris, with a background in marketing and product design, began to sculpt the first Boombot REX prototype in 2011. With support from friends, advisors, and the growing team at Boombotix, the Boombot REX project began to take shape and evolve into the product you see today.
