Artist Turns Stretch Marks And Other Body “Flaws” Into Stunning Art, But Not Everyone Finds It Beautiful

Stretch marks, scars, and even menstruation are all things women are routinely told to hide, but one Barcelona-based artist is turning these supposed flaws into beautiful new ways to appreciate the female body.

21-year-old Cinta Tort Cartró, who goes by the pen name Zinteta on social media, does it all with rainbow paint and glitter. Her colourful depictions of stretch marks, period blood, and the female anatomy aim to foster self-love in the hearts of girls who may feel ashamed of their bodies. Cartró’s creative awakening was inspired by her own difficult path to self-love, which makes the message of her work all the more powerful.

“Stretch marks are part of our essence, our moments, our lives, our stories and us,” Cartró writes on Instagram. “To accept all this is to accept your roots, your history, everything in it and, after all, accept yourself.”
