Photographer Ido Meirovich Captures Stunning Photos Directly Above Surfers, Making Them Look Like Abstract Artworks

This unique photography series showcases surfers from a completely fresh perspective. Shot using a drone, Ido Meirovich’s images are taken directly above their subjects, making them look completly flat, like abstract works of art.

By using a drone, one of the most interesting elements of Ido’s shots is how they feature a trail of collapsing waves behind the surfers. All of the pictures in Ido’s series were taking off the beaches of Herzliya, Israel. Capturing them, he said, can be a tricky task, as to achieve a shot directly above a surfer requires precise timing and flight at a suitable altitude.
