Grace on the Blade: Oriental Blades by Zhigzhit Bayaskhalanov
Zhigzhit Bayaskhalanov is an author who creates exclusive artistic knives in the national style, as well as sculptures that have a deep meaning.
The author’s style is clearly expressed in his works.
Zhigzhit draws ideas for his works from the heritage of his ancestors, inspired by the Buryat epic and borrowing motifs from the national Buryat costume and ornament. For decoration, she uses elements of traditional Buryat symbolism, which is based on ancient sacred knowledge, and, of course, the infinitely beautiful and diverse nature in its forms serves as a source of inspiration.
Also, the basis for his work is the works of folk art, the study of the life and customs of ancestors, their beliefs and cults, reading historical books and annals – artifacts of the life of the ancient Mongol-Buryats.
Zhigzhit adopted his penchant for jewelry making from his father, for whom jewelry work is a favorite hobby, doing which he produced a lot of national jewelry items in his life.
Currently, Zhigzhit Bayaskhalanov lives and works in the cultural capital of our country – St. Petersburg. Here he established his Workshop-Studio, where he and his team create these wonderful knives and sculptures.
